Alvin Jenner Walisinghe was born in Sri Lanka and moved to the UK in 2017 to study Chemistry at the University of Manchester. While studying for his undergraduate degree in Chemistry, he worked at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology with Dr Robin Curtis (Department of Chemical Engineering) on tuning protein phase-separation using multivalent anions. This was followed by the third-year project, which was a computational chemistry project involving inorganic chemistry, the analysis of magnetic interactions in heterometallic ring complexes using broken symmetry approaches, which was co-supervised by Prof Eric McInnes and Prof Richard Winpenny. Currently, he is starting as a PhD researcher at the Curtin University, Perth with Prof Julian Gale and collaboratively at the University of Manchester with Prof Mike Anderson. I love listening to music on my free time and play the tabla. |
