Mr Eu Pin Tien
PhD Student

Hi there! I‘m Eu Pin, hailing from Malaysia, where we‘ve got great food and lovely scenery! I completed my MEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering (with Industrial Experience) here at this university in 2016, and my final year project concerned the production of few-layered lead(II) iodide nanosheets via liquid phase exfoliation. I‘m currently in the 1st year of my PhD in Materials Science, supervised by Dr Sarah Haigh, and my research area involves developing techniques for the in situ imaging of nanoparticle formation and ageing. Zeolites and MOFs are two groups of materials that I‘m interested in investigating, which led to me collaborating with Prof Mike Anderson and his group. While here, I‘ll learn how to synthesise zeolites and MOFs, which I‘ll then image and analyse. With regards to hobbies: too much of my free time is spent browsing the internet, but I also enjoy relaxing gatherings with friends, meeting new people, as well as recreational hiking, cycling, and swimming.
